Should we bring the dog?

It's heartbreaking to receive a note like this:

Cara,
We all love the sneak peek, and are looking forward to seeing all of them.
We never dreamed how timely the session would turn out to be: sadly, we had to put Zoey down yesterday. Her health rapidly declined this past week with a kidney infection that couldn't be controlled despite hospitalization.
So as you can imagine the pictures will be that much more priceless.

Zoey with her boys.

Sadly, this has happened more than a few times.

If your dog is a huge part of your family, then let's find a way to make him or her a part of the session.

Kaia, the medical miracle.

Here are a few things that we can do to help your pup on the big day:

🐾    Take a huge walk earlier in the day.

🐾    Bring along plenty of treats and chewies.

🐾    Bring a ball or a frisbee.

🐾    Be flexible about location.  Some beaches allow dogs in the evening.  Some parks are dog-friendly. Places with large crowds and a huge dog population are not going to work.

🐾    Consider starting in your yard to get photos with the pup, and then moving to a local location.

🐾    Bring along a friend who can dog-sit in between shots and keep feeding treats.

🐾    Understand that a dog can be as difficult as toddlers.  Be patient.  We'll get the shot.

When booking your session this year, let's figure out how we can include your precious puppy!
