Arches so far

Words cannot even begin to describe this place.  When got grow up in New England ands come out here, you can't even wrap your head around it.  The land seems to go on forever.  The landforms are unreal.  This is a place that everyone should experience at least once.

It's hot.   We hit 102 the past two days, yet it's not unbearable like it is at home.  It's a bit uncomfortable in the tent, but we are adapting.

When we first arrived, we took a drive to the Windows section of Arches. As you approach an arch, you can't even believe it.  Throughout the park are many landforms that were formed by erosion.

By definition, an arch needs to be three feet I in diameter in any direction, needs to be created by erosion, and you need to see through it.  As we continue to explored the park, we keep finding holes that might be an arch some day.

We took a ranger led tour called the fiery furnace.  We had rock scrambles, crevices to jump over, and ledges to cling to.  It was awesome.

Today, we hiked to Landscape Arch (the largest in the park),

Navajo Arch (the closest to a semi circle)

and Partition Arch (a double arch).

We even ran into friends from Westford on the trail!

We also found found  a swim hole in Moab along the river.

Enjoying our time in Moab. It's a cool city.  I can't believe more people I know don't come here.

  1. Who is Archie? And how did he get his own National Park?

102 sounds rough. About 82 here. In Ireland Mom and Dad will probably see 62.

    1. 102 was hot, but not as bad as at home when it is 90!

  2. It is unbelievable isn't it? And pictures (even with an awesome photographer such as yourself) just don't do it justice or show it's true beauty..you just have to see it for yourself. So glad you did!!! Love you!! Have fun! - Lauren
