Rocky Mountain National Park

Hello everybody!

Today we went to Rocky Mountain National Park. We saw some Elk and Deer, and we also saw a Moose's butt. Ha ha ha!

We drove a road called Trail Ridge Road which climbs more than 12,000 feet above sea level.  We stopped at some amazing scenic overlooks. One was called Rainbow Curve, and it had an amazing view. There was another one called Forest Canyon, and it had even better views. Mostly because it was higher than Rainbow Curve.

On our way back to the campsite, there were many people pulled over at one spot. It turned out that there were a few elk on a hill by the road. When we were leaving, we saw 10 more elk and a few miles later, there were about 30 deer and 30 elk. Later we saw an elk by the side of the trail near the side of the road. I took a selfie with the elk in the background.

We heard that last night there was a bear in the campground and he tried to get in the cars at the sites.  There were paw marks on the cars.

Near the end of the Trail Ridge Road, there were many cars parked at the side of the road. There were people pointing into the woods and there was a moose. We watched for a minute and then left.

We had a great day at Rocky Mountain National Park.

  2. I have always wanted to see that part of the country. Thank you for sharing your tales with us as you go! I saw my last snow of the year on May 20th, but that snowbank you were next to looks like it will last all summer. Have a fantastic trip!

  3. 12,000 feet is really high. Was anyone feeling the lack of oxygen today?

    1. We were driving along and there were a lot of people by the side of the road. We decided to get out and see what the commotion was. There was a Moose a few yards into the woods, and I saw it.
