Geographic Center of the Nation--Belle Fourche

Belle Fourche (pronounced Bell Foosh) is a little town that can claim its fame by being the geographic center of the nation (including Alaska and Hawaii). Last year, the town created a platform surrounded by all 50 states’ flags.

Inside the visitors center is an adorable museum with artifacts from days of the pioneers. There also is a small cabin called the 1876 Johnny Spaulding Cabin furnished with period-era furniture and cooking utensils.

It is overseen by the Questers, an international organization of people who love antiques and antique houses and are committed to their preservation.

It was a fun little stop in the middle of nowhere.  Now, we can say that we have been to the geographic center of our nation!
