Katie and Jim's Intimate Cape Cod Wedding

"I take you to be my person," she said through tears.  It was an emotional ceremony of love and commitment for two people who have waited a long time for each other.  Katie and Jim exchanged their vows in front of an intimate group of family and friends at the Cotuit Freedom Hall.

Earlier in the day, I arrived at the cottage that they had rented.  Everything about this adorable cottage was perfectly Cape Cod, including the white paneling that provided a perfect backdrop for getting ready.  Katie's daughter helped her into her dress, and when the buttons became a challenge, Katie's father gave his attempt.  We shared a lot of laughs over the struggle of buttoning up a delicate lace top of a bridal gown.  Meanwhile, Jim was a few minutes away, putting finishing touches at the hall.

Katie and Jim opted for a first look, something that I think every couple should do.  Jim waited on the dock nervously, and seconds before approaching him, she whispered to me, "Why am I so nervous?"

They enjoyed a few minutes of solitude, a chance to remember why they were getting married, a chance to breathe and just enjoy the moment, while I snapped away from the next dock down.  We did a few portraits at the end of the dock, when the skies opened up!  We made a mad dash for the marina garage, where Katie presented Jim with a sentimental gift.  The rain didn't shake them.  "It's definitely making today memorable!" Katie said.

We ran back to the cars in the rain, and headed back to the hall for the ceremony.  Katie's two children escorted her down the aisle, and Jim's four children stood by his side.  Katie's uncle presided over the ceremony, and with emotional vows, the two made their promises of love.

Immediately after the ceremony, the rain stopped.  We headed to the dock to take a family portrait and do more portraits of the bride and groom.  The light was fantastic, and we fought off an army of bugs.

The couple headed back to the hall for a lobster and clam bake.

Katie and Jim, thank you so much for the honor of documenting your love story.  I wish you the best with the new house, the new job, and the big changes ahead!  Much love!
